About The Practice

Aaron Dodini, MS, MA, PhD, is a therapist and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) specialist at Dodini Behavioral Health in Arlington, Virginia.

Dr. Dodini grew up in a large family and is the oldest of 10 children. His life experience and education have given him the skills and temperament needed to be a great therapist.  Many of his family members have struggled with ADHD as children and adults.

While earning his Bachelor of Science in psychology at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, Dr. Dodini spent some time in his ancestral home in the Swiss Alps.

Dr. Dodini believes people inherit their strengths from past generations and his time in the mountains helped him gain more appreciation for the challenges his great-great-grandfather faced before immigrating to the United States.

After his time in the Alps, Dr. Dodini went on to earn his Master of Science in marriage and family therapy at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Two years into his marriage and family therapy program, Dr. Dodini began his six-year Doctor of Philosophy program in clinical psychology at The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, DC. He also has a Master of Arts in psychology from CUA.

Though he wouldn’t recommend working on two advanced degrees at the same time, this experience helps him better understand the importance of work-life balance, which he uses in his therapy.

Dr. Dodini is a certified group therapist (CGP) by the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA).

In practice for more than 20 years, Dr. Dodini finds it a great honor to help others identify and pursue their own versions of growth and balance to get the lives they want through psychotherapy. He believes in the basic truth that people grow and learn life’s greatest lessons when in the company of others. This is the core philosophy of his practice.

Drawing on his ancestors’ experiences and challenges, Dr. Dodini understands that life’s mountains require strength, courage, determination, and hard work to overcome. It’s his honor to be alongside his patients while they journey to their summits.

In his free time, Dr. Dodini spends time with his wife of more than 23 years and their four children.
